St. Paul’s Bay, Bugibba and Qawra
St. Paul's Bay - Tradition has it that in the year 60AD St. Paul who was sailing as a prisoner from Alexandra was shipwrecked near a creek with a shore in a place were two seas met. The place is believed to be St. Paul's Island in St. Paul's Bay. Today this bay offers a number of restaurants, pubs and hotels. Bugibba and Qawra - There is no clear demarcation line between these two towns. Bugibba is the main tourist resort with various restaurants, bars, beach clubs, hotels, discos, fast food outlets and a cinema complex. Qawra is quieter, with very similar facilities and a casino. In summer this area is very busy, mainly the beaches in the morning and the promenade and squares in the evening. |
